As the Greek summer unfolds, we pause to reflect on the 2024–2025 academic year—a period shaped by delays and administrative challenges that, at times, impeded international academic exchange, affecting the Fulbright Program both globally and here in Greece.

During this period of uncertainty, many alumni, partners, friends, and supporters reached out with concern—a clear reminder of how much Fulbright means to so many.

Through it all, one thing remained constant: Fulbright’s strength is its people—its local and global community. Even in the most challenging times, it connects individuals and institutions across borders.

We are pleased to confirm that the 2025–2026 academic year is moving forward with another exceptional cohort of Greek and U.S. students, scholars, researchers, artists, and educators. Over sixty grants have been awarded, made possible by the continued support of the U.S. and Greek governments and the generosity of our donors.

This year’s fields of study are impressively broad, reflecting the depth of academic and creative inquiry Fulbright supports. Areas include: Aerodynamics, Applied Mathematics, Urban Planning, Early Childhood Education, Journalism, Archaeology, Cultural and U.S. History, Engineering, Mental Health, Biomedical Technology, Telecommunications, Archival Research and Art Practice, Film Studies, Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, Supply Chain Management, Democracy and Citizenship, Political Philosophy, Medical Education, Physics, Landscape Architecture, and more.

We look forward to welcoming the incoming U.S. grantees and bidding farewell to the Greek cohort during our annual Awards Ceremony, scheduled for early October.

We also celebrate the inspiring group of 2024–2025 U.S. Fulbrighters who recently completed their time in Greece, and the Greek scholars and students who have returned from the United States—equipped with new skills, perspectives, and experiences. These exchanges remind us why Fulbright endures: the lasting impact of academic collaboration and global connection.

For nearly 80 years, Fulbright’s mission—to foster mutual understanding through education and dialogue—has guided our work, driving us to shape our programs to remain relevant and impactful in today’s world. At the heart of this work is the unique binational character of Fulbright Greece, grounded in the enduring partnership between Greece and the United States. We are grateful to the Fulbright Board, whose steady leadership and strategic guidance have helped us navigate recent challenges with clarity and purpose. I also want to acknowledge my colleagues on the Fulbright Greece team, whose dedication, adaptability, and professionalism remain essential to our mission and  to serving our community.

Thank you for standing with Fulbright. We invite you to stay engaged and connected as we continue this important work—together. The Summer 2025 edition of the Fulbright Greece Newsletter offers a window into the impact of our shared efforts.

Looking ahead, the application cycle for the 2026–2027 scholarship programs for U.S. citizens is now open, with early fall deadlines for scholars and students. Applications for all programs for Greek citizens will open on September 1, 2025.
