2023-2024 FULBRIGHT DISTINGUISHED AWARDS IN TEACHING PROGRAM FOR INTERNATIONAL TEACHERS

Embarking on the journey within the framework of the Fulbright Distinguished Awards in Teaching in the United States has been a transformative experience from the moment I decided to submit my application until today. The program's exceptional organizational structure became evident right from the start and continued to impress throughout. From the initial stages of the application to my return, the program's emphasis on organization played a pivotal role in shaping my experience, allowing me to focus on my journey and my cultural and professional experiences without hindrance.

One of the program's standout aspects was the opportunity for future collaboration with fellow educators and facilitating student connections beyond the European borders. Extending across three continents and various countries, the chance for my students to interact with peers globally will undoubtedly enrich their learning experience.

Additionally, the exposure to the U.S. educational system during my field experience has been invaluable. It provided me with insights that allowed for a productive comparison with the Greek educational system. Presenting my own educational system and cultural background not only fostered a better understanding of my teaching philosophy but also underscored how history and culture influence teaching methodologies and a state’s educational system.

As a political science instructor, the four-month stay in one of the world's first modern democracies provided invaluable insights. Visiting historical sites further deepened my knowledge, enhancing my ability to impart a broader perspective to my students.

In conclusion, this experience has not only benefited me personally and professionally but will also empower my students, as it allows me to infuse a global dimension into my lessons, cultivating the qualities of a true global citizen.
