Athanasia Spanou is an elementary school teacher based in a rural area on Aegina Island, Greece. With extensive classroom experience, she has participated in a wide range of educational programs focused on language teaching, both in Greece and abroad. She has also attended numerous seminars and workshops exploring innovative teaching methods and inclusive education practices.She holds three Master’s degrees—in Teaching Second/Foreign Languages, Special Education, and Science Education—which reflect her strong commitment to lifelong learning and professional development.

Her participation in the Fulbright Teacher Exchange Program represents a valuable opportunity to expand her pedagogical skills and gain new perspectives. Through observation and co-teaching with American educators, she aims to enrich her classroom practice and bring back effective, research-informed strategies to her school community. Drawing on her previous experience as an education executive, she views this program as a significant step toward enhancing both the theoretical and practical aspects of good school practices.
