Water Circular Economy and Reuse, University of Nevada, Reno
During my Fulbright program, I had the chance to immerse myself in both academic and everyday life in the United States, while also exploring different parts of the country whenever possible.
Academically, I conducted research and laboratory experiments at the University of Nevada, Reno, focused on water and wastewater treatment. I also attended symposiums, seminars, and workshops, where I gained valuable insights into U.S. practices, particularly in the field of water reuse. These experiences broadened my understanding of how different regions approach water-related challenges and deepened my perspective on global water management and sustainability.
One of the most rewarding aspects of the program was the opportunity to build lasting professional connections with researchers and experts in my field. These connections have already opened doors to potential collaborations, and continued knowledge exchange, significantly contributing to my professional growth.
On a personal level, living in Reno, Nevada, “The Biggest Little City in the World”, gave me the chance to experience American lifestyle in a meaningful way. From the very beginning, I was warmly welcomed. Locals and fellow researchers helped me settle in, offering advice on navigating the city, must-see places, and events worth attending.
I also formed strong friendships with Americans and people from around the world. Together, we cooked traditional dishes from our countries, traveled, celebrated special occasions, played sports, and enjoyed baseball games and movie nights. It truly felt like living a whole lifetime in just six months.
Throughout the program, I felt fully supported by the Fulbright team. Their guidance, from the application process to the very end, was always timely, thoughtful, and reassuring. Knowing I had a team standing by me every step of the way made a tremendous difference.
I am deeply grateful for this life-changing opportunity and for everything I learned, experienced, and shared along the journey.
Thank you, Fulbright!
