Fulbright Scholar Professor Barbara Prinari of the Department of Mathematics at the University at Buffalo, NY, concluded her semester at the University of Ioannina with heartfelt messages of appreciation from her students.
In their farewell note, students described the course as one of the most enjoyable educational experiences of their studies, highlighting how it introduced new perspectives, encouraged critical thinking, and left them feeling “intellectually enriched.” They also praised Professor Prinari’s generosity, accessibility, and commitment to supporting students—qualities they valued alongside academic excellence.
These moments reflect the lasting impact of Fulbright exchanges: beyond the classroom, they inspire curiosity, strengthen academic communities, and build relationships that continue long after the grant period ends.
Fulbright Scholar Cecilia Woloch Independent scholar, poet and writer reflected on the transformative experience of sharing her work with students and faculty in Greece:
My time in Greece was extraordinary and inspiring for me both as a poet and as an educator. In all my career and in all my years of giving presentations around the world, I have never had more engaged, enthusiastic listeners than I had in Athens and Thessaloniki.
Through lectures, discussions, and creative writing activities at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, she connected with students and faculty through poetry, personal histories, and conversations on identity and belonging.
Arielle Hardy, U.S. Fulbright Student
U.S. Fulbright Student Arielle Hardy , recipient of a Greece–Türkiye Joint Country Grant, reflected on the impact of her time in Greece, where she advanced her archaeological research while engaging with academic communities and cultural experiences beyond the classroom.
My time in Greece has been exceedingly rich with experience and productivity. I am so grateful for the opportunities the Fulbright Program has afforded me….The numerous opportunities for spontaneous conversation and collaboration, and the personal connections I made in Greece—possible only because of my Fulbright—will, I have no doubt, continue to lead to new paths of inquiry and inspiration.
