Fulbright Webinar on Cultural Exchange & Creative Communities

Fulbright Webinar on Cultural Exchange & Creative Communities

This webinar presents the Fulbright Scholarship program for Greek artists and creative professionals, reviews the U.S. artist residency landscape, discusses insights on how to prepare a successful portfolio and  explores the theme of the 2022 Santa Fe Institute Residency, “Revolution” and includes insightful alumni experiences.

During the first part of the webinar, Dr. Lydia Matthews, Professor of Visual Arts at Parsons School of Design, NY and Fulbright alumna, discusses the U.S. residency landscape and provides insights on how to prepare a successful application and portfolio.

The second part of the webinar was organized in partnership with the Santa Fe Art Institute (SFAI). In 2016, Fulbright Greece partnered with the Santa Fe Art Institute to award one scholarship annually, to a Greek citizen, for a semester-long placement in the SFAI International Thematic Residency. SFAI is located in the southwestern state of New Mexico, which boasts a stunning landscape, a rich local history, and diverse communities. The mission of SFAI, established in 1985, aligns with the objectives of the Fulbright Program to promote mutual understanding and improve intercultural relations, stressing the importance of connecting and building relationships and the need for critical public discourse, exploring the power of art to shape society, and fostering greater equity and inclusion. Discover Santa Fe through the accounts of the SFAI staff members and Fulbright SFAI Fellows and listen to Dr. Maria Georgopoulou, Director of the Gennadius Library and Fulbright Alumna, speak about the timely subject of revolution, the 2022 Residency theme.

The 90 minute webinar presented on February 24th, can be viewed online.
