George Spiro Babbes is a professor and former associate dean of accreditation in the School of Business & Management at Azusa Pacific University, which is a faith-based institution in Southern California. George has also held faculty positions at U.C. Berkeley’s Haas School of Business and Cornell’s Johnson Graduate School of Management. He teaches courses in strategic planning and decision making, and behavioral ethics. His research is focused on metaphor, embodied cognition, and behavioral economics. Prior to academia, George worked as a Brand Manager at Procter & Gamble, and in professional roles at Arthur Andersen, Apple, Leo Burnett, and Gillette.
George is being hosted by the Department of Marketing and Communications at the Athens University of Economics and Business (Spring 2020), where he plans to: (a) collaborate with colleagues on studying the pervasiveness and cognitive impact of metaphor in U.S. and E.U. advertising; (b) deliver a variety of lectures, seminars, and workshops for marketing students and professionals; and (c) participate in program assessment and continuous improvement efforts of the faculty and staff, with a special focus on curriculum, assurance of learning, student services, and strategic partnerships. As a Greek-American, George also looks forward to improving his Greek, and building long-term relationships.
