Julia Melvin

Washington State University, Pullman, WA
Elementary Education

During her time at WSU, Julia fostered her passion for teaching through her studies, and the numerous elected and appointed leadership positions in her sorority and service organizations. After graduating with a degree in Elementary Education, an ELL endorsement, and a TEFL certificate, Julia substitute taught in several districts in Washington. She comes to Fulbright from Los Angeles, where she spent the last few years as a teacher and caregiver to two young children. While traveling with the children both domestically and abroad, she furthered all aspects of their development and values the creativity and flexibility required to teach outside the classroom walls. In her spare time, Julia takes language classes and volunteers as an adult literacy tutor at the local library. She is eager to use her experiences in Greece to further hone her teaching skills and develop new strategies for ELL education.
