Born and raised in Hutchinson, Kansas Ta'mara is a graduate of The Wiley College, a Historically Black College in Marshall, Texas. Ta'mara graduated the top of her class with a degree in sociology, with minors in psychology and social work. Prior to accepting her position as an ETA in Greece, Ta'mara competed in speech and debate for 7 years, tutored international students at her alma mater, worked for an education reform nonprofit as a United Negro College Fund Fellow, partnered with the White House on the development of minority serving institutions, and most recently worked for a public policy management consultancy.
After her Fulbright year, Ta'mara plans on pursing a career in International Human Rights Law. She is excited to spend the year in Greece interacting with students and gaining experience in the field of education (which she believes is a human right).
