Ben graduated William Jewell College with degrees in English, Political Science, and Applied Critical Thought and Inquiry. At Jewell, his studies examined the the nexus between cultural perception and state politics, prompting original field research and a subsequent honors thesis on the parallel development between democratization and ethnic violence in Myanmar. After Jewell, Ben served as a Teach for America Corps Member in Milwaukee, teaching high school literature to children and grandchildren of Hmong refugees from the CIA's Secret War in Laos. He enjoys teaching classical and modern literature, particularly as they apply to inquiries surrounding culture and worldview. While teaching, Ben earned a Masters in Education Policy from Marquette University.
