Amanda graduated from the University of Cincinnati in May 2018 with a B.S. in Secondary Education Mathematics and a minor in Mathematics. This past school year, she worked as a math teacher at Garcia High School on the south side of Chicago. Her students at Garcia were primarily Latino, so Amanda spent the year engrossing herself into the language and culture of this community. Prior to her first teaching job, Amanda spent her time heavily involved in the Cincinnati community. She served as a Chess Instructor to underprivileged youth to foster sportsmanship and critical thinking skills as part of an after-school program, as well as tutored various age groups as part of the “Bearcat Buddies” program on campus. In addition, Amanda was a state-certified Alternative Caregiver for children in the foster care system, and an Ambassador for the College of Education. She looks forward to combining her passion for teaching and love of cultural-immersion in Greece.
