Dr Vasileios Tselios is an Assistant Professor of Regional Economics in the Department of Planning and Regional Development of the University of Thessaly. He is an economic geographer (PhD, London School of Economics) and his research centers around the spatial analysis of socioeconomic phenomena with a special emphasis on regional economic development and growth, regional policy, labour markets, inequalities, education, externalities, social welfare, the welfare state, and fiscal and political decentralisation. He has produced a series of academic papers in top scientific journals (e.g. Journal of Regional Science, Papers in Regional Science, The Annals of Regional Science, Regional Studies, Environment and Planning A, Environment and Planning B, Environment and Planning C, World Development, Urban Studies, Spatial Economic Analysis and International Regional Science Review). He was a Lecturer in Economic Geography at the University of Southampton and at Newcastle University, and a Research Associate at the Department of Economic Geography of the University of Groningen and at the Spatial Economics Research Centre of the London School of Economics. He has a Fulbright Scholarship for the academic year 2018-2019 and he will visit the Harris School of Public Policy at the University of Chicago. During his Fulbright Scholarship, he will work on a project entitled ‘Political decentralisation, inequality and poverty’.
