Having recently been awarded a Diploma (Dipl. Ing.) degree in Mechanical Engineering and Aeronautics from the University of Patras in Greece, I am especially interested in the areas of dynamics, control theory and robotics and I am aspiring to pursue a career in automation engineering. To this end, during the next two years I will pursue a research oriented master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University. My goal is to complement my engineering skills with a deeper understanding of the principles underlying the core areas of dynamics, control and robotics but also cultivate my technical skills on both software and hardware through research projects on control design, planning or perception for autonomous systems. Given Carnegie Mellon University’s proven longtime tradition in the field of robotics, I see this program as my next step towards this goal. After the completion of my studies at the United States, I plan to return to Greece and seek job opportunities relevant to my field of study, while also exploring the possibility of creating my own startup business focusing on autonomous driving and intelligent vehicles.
