Emmanouil Chousakos is a PhD candidate at the 1st Department of Pathology, Medical School, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, holding his MD title from the same University. During his undergraduate studies, multiple interships, academic fellowships and his residency in Internal Medicine he developed strong both clinical and research skills, collaborated with highly-acclaimed scientists, set ambitious goals, while getting accustomed to various academic environments. Taking into the account his natural visual tendency and his engagement with arts the choice of the specialty of Dermatology was inevitable as well as of the subspecialty of Preventive Dermatooncology, which has a major impact on patients' life and a remarkable social orientation. The subject of his PhD research focuses on prognostic models for the evolution of melanocytic nevi, contributing in population's effective screening for skin cancer and its diagnosis at an early stage. Thanks to the Fulbright Foundation his fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, New York will give him the opportunity to experience the function of a worldwide acknowledged intstitute, conduct substantial research and exchange ideas with leaders of this field, bringing back expertise, critical thinking and broader horizons.
