Stavros Malkidis

Summer Institute on Social Entrepreneurship, University of Tennessee at Chattanooga
2017 Fulbright Student Leader

At the beginning of April 2019, the third edition of the EU-U.S. Young Leaders Seminar took place in Brussels. The official title of the seminar was “Shared Transatlantic Challenges: The Changing Media & Information Landscape” and during these 3 days the discussions were focused on:

  • different aspects of media literacy and disinformation,
  • the role of the government, the public sector and the civil society in the conformation of the future information space,
  • the importance of transatlantic cooperation, the challenges and the opportunities towards more stable and resilient democracies.

Analyzing the threats of domestic and foreign influence disinformation campaigns on both sides of the Atlantic offered stimulating conversations and solution proposals.

Throughout the seminar we also had the chance to be engaged in both panel and informal discussions with EU and U.S. diplomats and officials, representatives of the private sector (such as Google, Facebook), civil society representatives and members of think tanks. April 2019
