Vincent Gray is a Social Studies teacher at Druid Hills High School, a diverse urban school in Atlanta, Georgia in the United States. He has been teaching at Druid Hills HS for 8 years and 10 years in the community and holds a Master’s degree in Social Studies Education. Gray’s area of teaching has been focused on History and Theory of Knowledge - particularly in the International Baccalaureate Program. However, his practice has involved Speech and Debate over the last few years, and is currently interested in the power of debate and dialogue in the teaching of democratic values and skills. Gray has recently developed multicultural courses integrating debate, theory, and interdisciplinary skills for all levels of public high school students. Gray is currently developing an inquiry project in Athens, Greece under the Fulbright Distinguished Awards in Teaching Program that looks at debate and dialogue and the role these modalities play in the teaching and fostering of democracy in a growing multicultural society.
