Apostolos Poulios holds a BA in English Language and Literature, an MA in Theoretical and Applied Linguistics and a PhD in Sociolinguistics, all from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He also holds degrees in piano and music theory from the Hellenic Conservatory of Music and Arts.
He has been teaching English in state secondary schools since 2008. He is currently teaching English, History and Musical Theater at Ilion Music School. Apostolos has also been involved in pre-service and in-service teacher training, most notably at Aristotle University, and has published papers in conversation analysis, age studies, media discourse, foreign language teaching/testing and the history of Greek musical theater.
Apostolos will attend the 2016 SUSI program at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He firmly believes that the program will help him gain a deep insight into US history and culture and explore new ways of integrating American music, films, theater and literature into his language teaching. He also aspires to join a global network of teachers who will work toward promoting US studies.
