Dimitris is an associate professor at the department of Urban and Regional Planning Engineers (PRD) of the University of Thessaly. He previously (2004-8) served as a postdoctoral researcher at the Joint Research Center of the European Commission (Ispra) on GIS and remote sensing. Graduated and obtained his doctorate degree from PRD (1994, 2003). Holds the MSc in Geodetic and Geographical Information Systems (UCL, 1995). His current research interests include monitoring, analyzing and forecasting urban sprawl. His Fulbright project is focused on modeling urbanization dynamics based on night-time imagery, captured by earth observation sensors.
